Johan Cruijff ArenA – Het Zilveren Amsterdammertje

The Johan Cruijff ArenA exists 25 years in 2021. The celebration of this milestone had to be iconic, something typical for Amsterdam and something fun to do and create. Together with the Johan Cruijff ArenA team we thought of ‘Het Zilveren Amsterdammertje’. An ‘Amsterdammertje’ is the iconic cast iron bollard of the City of Amsterdam and because we are celebrating a 25^th anniversary automatically Silver popped up in our minds.

In the 25 years of existence the Johan Cruijff ArenA has had some true iconic and memorable moments, some of the key players in those moments now play a part to return the favor for the stadium. Their leader, René Froger, calls up everyone and eventually comes up with a plan. His partner in crime, Sjaak Swart, gets to it and takes an Amsterdammertje away from the curb right across the official residence of the mayor of Amsterdam whom eventually would reveal ‘Het Zilveren Amsterdammertje’ in the stadium in real-life.

Leading up to the reveal in the stadium, we made a video telling the story behind the realization of the bollard. Shorts for social channels and a long video to be shown at the event and for all visitors and fans. Completing the project with an aftermovie of the reveal event.
